My life-Choice Memoir is the start of my final assignments for my English Composition I course. Here I provide links to each draft of this personal story. The assignment that was given was to write about a time when you made a high-stakes life choice. When first introduced to the sub genre of a Memoir I was intrigued yet very nervous about deciding on a topic to write about. I quickly reflected back to several blog posts that asked us to write about personal decisions we've made in our lives. I struggled to find a topic that I felt comfortable enough to share. I went back and forth between two topics, both that are still very current in my life now. I started writing about my current relationship and the choices I've had to make. As I started writing I found myself holding back on details and feelings because I was too afraid to confront the situation that I was going to share, I felt very uncomfortable. So I began to rethink my process, and looked to the help of my mom, she gave me the suggestion of the ongoing situation between my family and my aunt. After deciding on this topic I found trouble in how to begin this story, how far do I need to go back so that my readers could fully understand my story, how can I grab the readers interest with my opening scene and more so, how can I show and not just tell? I started with just writing every memoir that came to mind and then later adding and deleting unnecessary detail. I hope you enjoy.
